To be honest, the weapon needs a lot of work. A weapon like that, while unique, actually has a small cutting surface. Your character would have to nip enemies with the tip of the sword or stab 'em repeatedly in order to attack. You might want to try a weapon design that has a larger cutting area next time. Remember, it's better to be practical than elegant with weapons, even in anime.
